Kirsty is fascinated in creating one off prints that provoke thought and hold the attention of viewers for longer than the usual photographic print. The notion of carefully nurturing the growth of a project through considered exploration, rather than asserting meaning to each print is wholly important to her work.
Kirsty previously worked in architecture before turning her creativity to photography, but finds the influence of her architectural background difficult to avoid.
The series titled ‘Structures’ embodies the frustration Kirsty had with the complexity of architecture through making templates, which would then be made into black and white photograms in the darkroom.
The work has since developed into her latest body of work ‘Untitled’, in which Kirsty has moved on to using the cyanotype process to create forms and constructions that emulate her exception of the architectural influences to her work.
